This antibody binds the extracellular domain of human CD47, broadly distributed on normal adult tissues and certain tumors such as ovarian cancer. It is abundant in epithelia and brain tissue. CD47 (also known as integrin-associated protein, IAP) functions as an adhesion receptor for THBS1 on platelets and modulates integrin activity. It plays an important role in memory formation and synaptic plasticity within the hippocampus and acts as a receptor for SIRPA, preventing dendritic cell maturation and cytokine production.

Target Information

CD47 (integrin-associated protein, IAP) is a cell surface transmembrane glycoprotein that interacts with integrins and modulates signaling pathways, including G protein activation and calcium influx during cell adhesion. It serves as a receptor for thrombospondin’s C-terminal binding domain and participates in membrane transport and signal transduction. CD47 expression is widespread, reduced on Rh erythrocytes, and acts as a ligand for CD172a (SIRP alpha), inhibiting macrophage-mediated phagocytosis. The CD47-CD172a system influences cell migration, B cell adhesion, T cell activation, chondrocyte mechanotransduction, and neuronal development, with high abundance in synapse-rich regions of the brain and retina.
