• Percent identity with other species by BLAST analysis:
  Human, Gorilla, Gibbon, Marmoset, Dog, Elephant, Rabbit, Platypus (100%);
  Opossum (93%); Mouse, Rat, Bat, Hamster, Panda, Chicken (86%).
• For IHC(P), use heat-induced antigen retrieval in pH 6.0 citrate buffer.
  After incubation with the primary antibody, slides were incubated with biotinylated secondary antibody, followed by alkaline phosphatase-streptavidin and chromogen.

Target Information

Solute carrier family 7 member 5 (SLC7A5), also known as large neutral amino acids transporter small subunit 1, is a protein encoded by the SLC7A5 gene in humans.
It mediates sodium-independent, high-affinity transport of large neutral amino acids such as phenylalanine, tyrosine, leucine, arginine, and tryptophan when associated with SLC3A2/4F2hc.
SLC7A5 is involved in cellular amino acid uptake and the transport of L-DOPA across the blood-brain barrier, as well as thyroid hormones (T3, T4) across cell membranes in tissues such as placenta.
It functions as an amino acid exchanger and plays a role in neuronal cell proliferation (neurogenesis) in the brain.
