Target Information
SLIT and NTRK-like family 6 (Slitrk6) belongs to a family of six homologous transmembrane proteins (Slitrk1–6) sharing two conserved leucine-rich repeat domains in the extracellular region and significant homology to Slit, a secreted axonal growth-controlling protein. These proteins also show homology to trk neurotrophin receptors in their intracellular domains.
Expression of Slitrk proteins is largely restricted to neural and brain tumor tissues, with Slitrk6 observed in tongue, lung, gastrointestinal tract, and pancreas. Overexpression of Slitrk6 inhibits neurite outgrowth in cultured neurons, suggesting a role in neurite growth regulation. At least two isoforms of Slitrk6 are known to exist.
