Target Information

ASS1 (Argininosuccinate synthetase 1) catalyzes the penultimate step in the arginine biosynthetic pathway.
There are approximately 10–14 copies of the gene, including pseudogenes, dispersed across the human genome.
The functional gene located on chromosome 9 is associated with citrullinemia when mutated.
Two transcript variants encoding the same protein have been identified.
