Product Specific Information
For reconstitution, add 100 µL distilled water to achieve a final antibody concentration of approximately 1 mg/mL.
For conjugation experiments, perform an additional desalting step using Zeba Spin Desalting Columns (7K MWCO, 0.5 mL, Product #89882).
Target Information
CD44 is a 100 kDa type 1 transmembrane glycoprotein expressed on human leukocytes, brain white matter, and certain epithelial cells. It acts as a receptor for hyaluronic acid (HA) and plays roles in cell-cell interaction, adhesion, and migration. CD44 is involved in lymphocyte activation, recirculation, and homing. Expression levels may increase in certain carcinomas and are linked to metastatic potential.
CD44 is found in hematopoietic and non-hematopoietic cells, epithelial tissues, and filopodia of cultured keratinocytes. Bone marrow myeloid cells and memory T cells express CD44 at high levels; peripheral B and T cells can upregulate CD44 expression upon stimulation.
The CD44 gene undergoes complex alternative splicing, producing multiple isoforms with distinct functions. Disorders associated with CD44 dysfunction include superficial keratitis and lichen sclerosus. It may also be involved in tumor metastasis formation.
