Product Specific Information
The antibody was affinity-purified from mouse ascites by affinity chromatography using an epitope-specific immunogen. The purity is >95% as determined by SDS-PAGE.
Target Information
DLAT encodes component E2 of the multi-enzyme pyruvate dehydrogenase complex (PDC), located in the inner mitochondrial membrane. PDC catalyzes the conversion of pyruvate to acetyl coenzyme A. The DLAT protein, dihydrolipoamide acetyltransferase, transfers acetyl groups to coenzyme A. This protein is the antigen for antimitochondrial antibodies, which are present in nearly 95% of patients with primary biliary cirrhosis (PBC), an autoimmune liver disease that can progress to cirrhosis and liver failure.
