Product Specific Information
This antibody specifically recognizes endogenous levels of the ~36 kDa syntaxin protein.
It has also been used for immunohistochemistry on formalin-fixed, vibratome sections.
Note: Does not work on paraffin sections.
Target Information
Syntaxin 1 is a member of the syntaxin superfamily. Syntaxins are nervous system-specific proteins involved in docking synaptic vesicles with the presynaptic plasma membrane. They contain a single C-terminal transmembrane domain, a SNARE (Soluble NSF Attachment protein REceptor) domain (H3), and an N-terminal regulatory domain (Habc).
Syntaxins bind synaptotagmin in a calcium-dependent manner and interact with voltage-dependent calcium and potassium channels via the H3 domain. This gene product plays a key role in ion channel regulation and synaptic exocytosis.
Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
