Product Specific Information
- In direct ELISAs, approximately 25% cross-reactivity with recombinant rat IL-1 alpha and recombinant cotton rat IL-1 alpha is observed, and less than 1% cross-reactivity with recombinant human IL-1 alpha is observed.
- Reconstitute at 0.2 mg/mL in sterile PBS.
- Endotoxin level: <0.10 EU per 1 µg of antibody (LAL method).
Target Information
IL-1 alpha (Interleukin-1 alpha) is a proinflammatory cytokine expressed by monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells. It is coded by the IL1A gene and signals through IL-1RI and IL-1RII receptors, shared with IL-1 beta.
Located on chromosome 2q13, IL-1 alpha plays an essential role in innate immune defense by inducing other proinflammatory cytokines and initiating acute-phase responses.
Its activity is moderated by IL-1 Receptor Antagonist (IL-1RA), which inhibits receptor binding competitively.
IL-1 alpha regulates NF-κB and MAPK pathways, stimulates IL6 and COX-2 expression, and enhances nitric oxide (NO) production.
Elevated IL-1 alpha levels are associated with chronic inflammatory diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, and multiple sclerosis.
