Product Specific Information
The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using an epitope-specific immunogen. The purity is greater than 95% as determined by SDS-PAGE.
Target Information
Semaphorins constitute the largest family of axon guidance cues described to date. They are divided into eight classes (classes 3–7 found in vertebrates):
- Class 3 Semaphorins: Secreted proteins
- Classes 4–6: Transmembrane proteins
- Class 7: Membrane-associated via glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI) linkage
Semaphorins are characterized by a conserved ~400 amino acid sema domain. Traditionally known as collapsing factors and mediators of axon repulsion, they can also function as context-dependent chemoattractants. They play roles in cardiovascular development and immune cell antigen presentation. Receptors mediating semaphorin signaling include members of the Neuropilin and Plexin families.
