Target Information
PRKY (protein kinase, Y-linked) is a member of the serine/threonine (Ser/Thr) protein kinase family, closely related to PRKX (protein kinase, X-linked). Both belong to the cAMP-dependent kinase subfamily and contain a single protein kinase domain that catalyzes ATP-dependent phosphorylation of target proteins.
PRKY is encoded by a gene located near the pseudoautosomal region on chromosome Y. PRKX plays roles in macrophage differentiation and renal epithelial cell migration.
Mutations in PRKY and PRKX genes are associated with sex reversal disorders (XX males and XY females).
