Product Specific Information
The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using an epitope-specific immunogen. The purity is >95% as determined by SDS-PAGE.
Target Information
The protein encoded by the PIG3 gene is similar to oxidoreductases, enzymes involved in cellular responses to oxidative stress and irradiation. This gene is induced by the tumor suppressor p53 and is thought to participate in p53-mediated cell death.
It contains a p53 consensus binding site in its promoter region and a downstream pentanucleotide microsatellite sequence. P53 transcriptionally activates this gene through interaction with the microsatellite, which is polymorphic and correlates with transcriptional activation strength.
This polymorphism may influence cancer susceptibility. At least two transcript variants encoding the same protein have been identified.
