Product Specific Information

Description:
The eBio13A antibody reacts with mouse IL-13. IL-13 is a cytokine produced mainly by Th2 cells and antigen-primed CD8 T cells. It is involved in allergic inflammation, parasitic clearing, and has context-dependent effects in cancer models. In humans, IL-13 regulates isotype switching in B cells and down-modulates macrophage activity by reducing pro-inflammatory cytokines (IL-1, IL-6, IL-8, IL-10, IL-12).

Applications Reported:
Used for intracellular staining followed by flow cytometric analysis.

Applications Tested:
Tested by intracellular staining and flow cytometry of Th2-polarized mouse splenocytes. Recommended ≤0.125 µg/test (100 µL final volume). Optimal titration recommended per assay.

Fluorochrome Information:
APC-eFluor™ 780 emits at 780 nm, excited by Red laser (633 nm). Ensure instrument compatibility.

Light Sensitivity:
Sensitive to photo-induced oxidation. Protect from light.

Fixation:
Samples can be stored in IC Fixation Buffer (Product #00-8222) or 1-step Fix/Lyse Solution (Product #00-5333) for up to 3 days at 4°C in the dark. Clone-specific performance should be determined empirically.

Excitation / Emission / Laser:
633–647 nm / 780 nm / Red Laser.

Target Information

IL-13 is an immunoregulatory cytokine produced primarily by activated Th2 cells. It regulates inflammatory and immune responses by down-regulating macrophage activity and inhibiting pro-inflammatory cytokine production. IL-13 is implicated in allergen-induced asthma, B cell maturation, and IgE isotype switching. Structurally, IL-13 resembles IL-3, IL-4, IL-5, and GM-CSF. The IL-13 gene is located near IL-4 on chromosome 5q within the cytokine gene cluster.
