Product Specific Information
This product is preservative-free. It is recommended to add sodium azide to avoid contamination (final concentration 0.05%–0.1%).
Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems by cloning specific antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits. Individual clones are screened to select the best candidates for production.
Advantages of recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies:
- Better specificity and sensitivity
- Lot-to-lot consistency
- Animal origin-free formulations
- Broad immunoreactivity due to large rabbit immune repertoire
This antibody specifically recognizes Mouse CD5/Cluster of Differentiation 5.
Target Information
CD5 is a 67 kDa human T-lymphocyte single-chain transmembrane glycoprotein. It is expressed on all mature T-lymphocytes, most thymocytes, and many T-cell leukemias and lymphomas. CD5 also reacts with a subpopulation of activated B-cells and may act as a receptor regulating T-cell proliferation.
CD5 is found on 95% of thymocytes and 72% of peripheral blood lymphocytes. In lymph nodes, reactivity is mainly observed in T cell areas. CD5 expression is associated with T cell leukemia, lymphomas, and activated T cells.
Diseases associated with CD5 dysfunction include thymus cancer and Richter’s Syndrome.
