Cytoplasm, perinuclear region, cell projection (growth cone), membrane (peripheral membrane protein, cytoplasmic side), axon, Golgi apparatus, endosome, lamellipodium.
Associated with punctate structures in the perinuclear cytoplasm, axons, and growth cones of developing neurons. SCG10 exists in both soluble and membrane-bound forms.
Colocalized with CIB1 in neurites, cell body, and growth cones of neurons, as well as at the leading edge of lamellipodia.
배경 (Background)
This gene encodes a member of the stathmin family of phosphoproteins involved in microtubule dynamics and signal transduction. The encoded protein regulates neuronal growth and may play a role in osteogenesis. Reduced expression is associated with Down’s syndrome and Alzheimer’s disease. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been observed. A pseudogene is located on chromosome 6 (RefSeq, Nov 2010).
