Product Specific Information

The 8.1.1 monoclonal antibody reacts with mouse podoplanin (T1a, gp38, aggrus), a 43 kDa transmembrane glycoprotein expressed in kidney podocytes and various epithelial and mesothelial cells. Podoplanin is a potent marker for lymphatic endothelium and is expressed in thymic subcapsular epithelial cells. Mice deficient in podoplanin die at birth due to respiratory defects and congenital lymphedema caused by lymphatic pattern formation failure.

Applications Reported: Suitable for flow cytometry and immunohistochemistry.
Applications Tested: Tested by flow cytometric analysis of TE-71 cells. Recommended ≤0.25 µg per million cells in 100 µL staining volume. Optimize titration for best assay performance.
Filtration: 0.2 µm post-manufacturing filtered.

Target Information

Podoplanin (PDPN, T1A, gp38, Aggrus) is a mucin-type 1 glycoprotein (~40–43 kDa) expressed in normal and tumor cells, especially lymphatic endothelial cells and follicular dendritic cells. It localizes to stromal and thymic epithelial cells and regulates lymphatic endothelium morphology. Podoplanin serves as a ligand for CLEC-2 and correlates with tumor invasiveness and metastasis. It is involved in cell migration and tumor invasion, and its expression can be induced by Src activation of Cas. Podoplanin presence has been noted on Th17 cells and a subset of CD4+ human PBMCs. Dysfunction is linked to lymphangioma and subglottis neoplasm and proposed as a marker for lung injury.
