Target Information

Anaplastic Lymphoma Receptor Tyrosine Kinase (ALK) belongs to the insulin receptor superfamily and is essential for brain development.
Mutations, rearrangements, and amplifications in the ALK gene are associated with several tumors, including:

• Anaplastic large cell lymphoma
• Neuroblastoma
• Non-small cell lung cancer

Chromosomal rearrangements often produce a fusion gene combining the ALK gene (chromosome 2) and the nucleophosmin (NPM) gene (chromosome 5), yielding the oncogenic NPM-ALK fusion protein.
ALK encodes a receptor tyrosine kinase with transmembrane and extracellular domains, showing high sequence similarity to LTK.
It plays a key role in neuronal development and signaling.
