Target Information
Cytokeratins are a subfamily of intermediate filament proteins characterized by biochemical diversity, represented in human epithelial tissues by at least 20 different polypeptides. They range in molecular weight between approximately 40 kDa and 68 kDa, with isoelectric points between pH 4.9 and 7.8.
Each cytokeratin subtype is expressed in specific epithelial tissues and reflects both tissue type and differentiation stage. Cytokeratin expression patterns are widely used to distinguish different epithelial malignancies.
Cytokeratin antibodies are valuable tools for tumor differential diagnosis in immunohistochemistry, cytopathology, and flow cytometry assays.
