Target Information

Peroxiredoxin (Prx) is a peroxidase family involved in cell proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis. Mammalian Prx consists of six members categorized as typical 2-Cys, atypical 2-Cys, and 1-Cys Prx.
Except for Prx VI (1-Cys subgroup), the other five 2-Cys Prx isotypes have thioredoxin-dependent peroxidase (TPx) activity utilizing thioredoxin, thioredoxin reductase, and NADPH as a reducing system.
Mammalian Prxs (20–30 kDa) vary in subcellular localization:

• Prx I, II, VI: Cytosol
• Prx III: Mitochondria
• Prx IV: ER and secretion
• Prx V: Peroxisome, mitochondria, and cytosol
