Product Specific Information
Goats were immunized with purified human ceruloplasmin of serum or plasma origin. The antibody was isolated by affinity chromatography using antigen coupled to agarose beads. Antibody concentration was determined by extinction coefficient: absorbance at 280 nm of 1.4 equals 1.0 mg of IgG.
Target Information
Ceruloplasmin encodes a metalloprotein that binds most of the copper in plasma and is involved in the peroxidation of Fe(II)-transferrin to Fe(III)-transferrin. Mutations in this gene cause aceruloplasminemia, leading to iron accumulation and tissue damage, and are associated with diabetes and neurologic abnormalities.
