Target Information
Gli-2 belongs to the C2H2-type zinc finger protein subclass of the Gli family. These transcription factors bind DNA through conserved zinc finger motifs and mediate Sonic hedgehog (Shh) signaling.
Gli proteins are implicated as oncogenes in embryonal carcinoma cells and play roles in embryogenesis.
The encoded protein localizes to the cytoplasm and activates patched Drosophila homolog (PTCH) gene expression.
