Product Specific Information

The H57-597 monoclonal antibody reacts with the beta chain of mouse TCR. TCR beta is expressed by thymocytes in a developmentally regulated manner and a majority of peripheral T cells. Crosslinking of the TCR complex with H57-597 induces activation and proliferation of T cells or apoptosis depending on assay conditions. It serves as a phenotypic marker for TCR beta expressing T cells.

Target Information

T cell receptors (TCRs) are essential for distinguishing foreign from self-peptides presented by MHC class II molecules, playing a key role in adaptive immunity. Recognition of self-peptides is linked to autoimmune diseases and tumor-associated mutations. Superantigen engagement of TCRs can lead to toxic shock syndrome. Autoantibodies to V beta segments have been found in RA and SLE patients, potentially modulating TH1-mediated inflammation.

Human T cells mainly express TCR alpha-beta with CD4 or CD8. A subset lacking both (double negative) is elevated in certain autoimmune and immunodeficiency disorders. Gamma-delta T cells, found in epithelial tissues, show distinct antigen recognition and immunoregulatory or antitumor functions.
