Target Information

Histone H3 is a DNA-binding protein found in the chromatin of all eukaryotic cells. Along with four core histone proteins, it forms the nucleosome structure by binding to DNA. Histones play central roles in transcription regulation, DNA repair, replication, and chromosomal stability. The N-terminal tail of histone H3 undergoes various post-translational modifications—such as methylation, acetylation, and phosphorylation—that influence chromatin structure and gene expression.
