Target Information

RPS6KB1 (p70S6K) is a serine/threonine kinase with two non-identical catalytic domains that phosphorylate residues of the S6 ribosomal protein. Predominantly localized in the cytoplasm, it plays essential roles in growth factor-regulated cell proliferation, motility, immune response, and tissue repair. Acting downstream of PI3-kinase, p70 S6 kinase promotes protein synthesis and cell proliferation. Amplification and overexpression of p70 S6 kinase are observed in certain breast cancer cell lines.
