Product Specific Information

The eBio64CAP17 antibody reacts with human IL-17A and cross-reacts with Rhesus monkey IL-17A, as confirmed by intracellular staining. It is a neutralizing monoclonal antibody with no reactivity to human IL-17F. Reactivity to other IL-17 family members has not been evaluated.

Interleukin-17A (IL-17A) is a CD4⁺ T cell-derived cytokine that promotes inflammatory responses and is elevated in conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, asthma, multiple sclerosis, psoriasis, and transplant rejection. Human IL-17A exists as a glycosylated 20–30 kDa homodimer and enhances expression of ICAM-1 in fibroblasts, while stimulating epithelial, endothelial, and fibroblastic cells to secrete IL-6, IL-8, G-CSF, and PGE2.

Activated human CD4⁺ T cells produce IL-17A/F heterodimers as well as homodimers. In comparative studies, IL-17A was the most potent in inducing GRO-α secretion, followed by IL-17A/F and IL-17F. The eBio64CAP17 antibody can be used to detect IL-17 heterodimers by immunoprecipitation followed by immunoblot with anti-IL17F monoclonal antibody (H17F10A7).

Target Information

Interleukin-17A (IL-17A, CTLA-8) is a 32 kDa disulfide-linked homodimeric cytokine derived from CD4⁺ T cells. It is a key mediator of inflammatory responses and signals through the IL-17 receptor (IL-17R/CDw217). IL-17A regulates NF-κB and MAPK pathways, induces IL-6 and COX-2 expression, and enhances nitric oxide production. It plays a critical role in autoimmune and inflammatory diseases.
