Product Specific Information

The antibody eBio473P19 reacts with the p19 subunit of human IL-23. It was generated by immunization with recombinant human IL-23 heterodimer expressed in insect cells.

Using a p19-specific capture antibody and a p40-specific detection antibody enables a highly specific human IL-23 sandwich ELISA. No cross-reactivity with IL-12 p40 monomer, IL-12 p70, or 20 unrelated cytokines was observed. The assay detects native human IL-23 protein in supernatants from activated dendritic cell populations.

IL-23 is a heterodimeric cytokine composed of the p40 subunit of IL-12 disulfide-linked with a p19 protein. The p19 subunit is inactive by itself. IL-23 interacts with IL-12Rβ1 and a novel β2-like receptor subunit (IL-23R) containing a STAT4 binding domain. It is secreted by activated mouse and human dendritic cells.

Mouse IL-23 differs from IL-12 in biological activity. It does not induce significant IFN-γ production but promotes proliferation of memory T cells and production of IL-17. Human IL-23 induces proliferation of memory T cells and moderate IFN-γ production.

  • Recommended ELISA capture concentration: 2.5–8 µg/mL
  • Standard curve: 2000 pg/mL – 15 pg/mL
  • Use TMB substrate (not ABTS)
  • Effective in immunoblotting under reducing and nonreducing conditions at 2 µg/mL

Target Information
