The antibody detects a 116 kDa band corresponding to PYK2 on SDS-PAGE immunoblots of mouse brain tissue.

Target Information

PTK2B (FAK2) is a cytoplasmic tyrosine kinase involved in calcium-induced regulation of ion channels and activation of the MAP kinase signaling pathway. PTK2B regulates reorganization of the actin cytoskeleton, cell polarization, migration, adhesion, spreading, and bone remodeling. It plays a role in the regulation of the humoral immune response and is required for normal levels and migration of splenic B-cells. PTK2B functions in signaling downstream of integrin, collagen, immune, G-protein coupled, cytokine, chemokine, and growth factor receptors, mediating responses to cellular stress. Aberrant expression may contribute to cancer cell proliferation, migration, and invasion. Elevated expression has been observed in gliomas, hepatocellular carcinoma, lung, and breast cancers.
