Target Information
The C/EBP (CCAAT/enhancer binding protein) family includes alpha, beta, delta, and epsilon, which are widely expressed in various tissues. These transcription factors contain a conserved five-amino acid motif (RDM) with consensus sequence (I/V/L)KXEP.
They play major roles in metabolic regulation in liver and fat cells and are involved in adipocyte development.
C/EBP beta isoforms (LAP, LAP, LIP) arise from different translation initiation sites and have distinct roles in gene regulation.
In the nervous system, C/EBPs are implicated in *nerve growth factor mediation, **synaptic plasticity regulation, and inflammatory response in Alzheimer’s disease.
