Target Information
CHEK2 (CHK2) is a serine/threonine kinase involved in the DNA damage checkpoint pathway. Mutations in CHK2 are linked to various cancers. Upon DNA damage, CHK2 phosphorylates several cell cycle regulators, including tumor suppressor proteins such as BRCA1, aiding in DNA repair and survival.
CHK2 functions as a tumor suppressor, and mutations are associated with Li-Fraumeni syndrome and predisposition to sarcomas, breast cancer, and brain tumors.
