Target Information
Protein Kinase C alpha (PKC alpha) is a 77 kDa member of the conventional group (cPKCs: sensitive to calcium, diacylglycerol, phosphatidylserine, and phorbol esters) of the PKC family of serine/threonine kinases. PKC alpha participates in various physiological processes including mitogenesis, cell survival, and transcriptional regulation. It regulates cellular functions such as proliferation, differentiation, development, migration, cell adhesion, and solute transport. Phosphorylation at threonine 497 by PDK1 enables autophosphorylation at threonine 638, which is critical for controlling PKC alpha dephosphorylation and inactivation.
