Product Specific Information
A 1:1,000 dilution of MA5-45882 was sufficient for detection of c-Fos in 10 µg of serum-starved HeLa cells treated with PMA by ECL immunoblot analysis using goat anti-mouse IgG:HRP as the secondary antibody.
Detects 62 kDa band. Observed molecular weight of band is higher than predicted 41 kDa band due to post-translational modifications.
Target Information
FBJ murine osteosarcoma viral oncogene homolog, commonly known as Cellular protooncogene Fos (c-Fos), belongs to the fos transcription factor family and is encoded by the C-FOS gene located on chromosome 14.
c-Fos heterodimerizes with c-Jun to form the Activator Protein-1 (AP-1) transcription factor, which regulates transcription of several genes involved in cellular signal transduction, proliferation, and differentiation.
It is phosphorylated by various stimuli including growth factors and insulin at multiple sites, with ERK MAPK being the key upstream kinase for phosphorylation at Threonine 232, influencing nuclear localization and transcriptional activity.
