Product Specific Information
A 1:1,000 dilution of MA5-45883 was sufficient for detection of c-Fos in 10 µg of serum-starved HeLa cells treated with PMA by ECL immunoblot analysis using goat anti-mouse IgG:HRP as the secondary antibody.
Detects a 62 kDa band. The observed molecular weight is higher than the predicted 41 kDa due to post-translational modifications.
Target Information
FBJ murine osteosarcoma viral oncogene homolog, commonly known as Cellular proto-oncogene Fos (c-Fos), belongs to the Fos transcription factor family and is encoded by the C-FOS gene located on chromosome 14.
c-Fos heterodimerizes with c-Jun to form the Activator Protein-1 (AP-1) transcription factor, which regulates transcription of several genes involved in cellular signal transduction, proliferation, and differentiation.
c-Fos is phosphorylated by various stimuli including growth factors and insulin at multiple sites. The best-known upstream kinase for phosphorylation at Threonine 232 is ERK MAPK, which regulates nuclear localization and transcriptional activity of c-Fos.
