Mouse anti-human CD4 antibody, clone RPA-T4 recognizes human CD4, a 55 kDa cell surface glycoprotein primarily expressed on a subpopulation of T lymphocytes, peripheral blood monocytes, and tissue macrophages.


Target Information

The CD4 antigen is involved in the recognition of MHC class II molecules and acts as a co-receptor for HIV. CD4 is mainly expressed in T helper cells and other immune cells such as monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells. It is found in thymus, lymph nodes, tonsils, spleen, and certain regions of the brain and gut. CD4 functions to initiate or augment the early phase of T-cell activation through its association with the T-cell receptor complex and protein tyrosine kinase Lck. It may also play a role in neuronal damage in infectious and immune-mediated CNS diseases. Multiple alternatively spliced transcripts have been identified (RefSeq, July 2017).
