Product Specific Information

  • Specific for the nucleoprotein of the SARS virus (IFA & ELISA) and COVID-19 virus (ELISA).
  • Negative for human coronaviruses 229E & OC43.
  • Reactive with the nucleocapsids of variants: UK B.1.1.7, SA B.1.351, Brazil P.1, and B.1.617.2.
  • Purified preparations consist of >90% pure mouse monoclonal antibody purified from ascites fluid by protein A chromatography.
  • Final preparation: 100 µg/mL in 0.01 M PBS, pH 7.2, containing 0.1% sodium azide.
  • Each vial contains 1.0 mL.
  • No stabilizing proteins added; store at 4°C until use.
  • Working dilution to be determined by the user. Suggested starting ranges: 1:10–1:50 for ICC/IF, 1:20–1:200 for ELISA.

Target Information

Human coronaviruses are major causes of upper respiratory tract illness such as the common cold.
These positive-stranded RNA viruses have the largest known viral RNA genomes (27–31 kb).
Infection begins with binding of the viral spike protein (~139 kDa) to host cell receptors.
The spike protein serves as the main surface antigen.
The most prominent protein in SARS virus-infected culture supernatants is a 46 kDa nucleocapsid protein, a major immunogen useful for early diagnostics.
SARS-CoV-2 nucleocapsid protein is the most abundant viral protein and strongly immunogenic, suggesting diagnostic potential.
