Product Specific Information
This antibody detects endogenous levels of alpha-1 catenin only when phosphorylated at Tyr177.
Target Information
Alpha-1 catenin associates with the cytoplasmic domain of various cadherins. The catenin–cadherin complex links to the actin filament network, playing a key role in cadherin-mediated cell adhesion. It can associate with both E- and N-cadherins. Initially thought to mediate cadherin–actin linkage, later studies suggest CTNNA1 does not bind F-actin in the complex, implying a distinct mechanism for actin–adherens junction interaction. The homodimeric form may regulate actin filament assembly and inhibit branching by competing with the Arp2/3 complex. It is potentially crucial for cell differentiation.
