- 1 µg/mL of MA5-27615 was sufficient for detection of Protocadherin gamma (pan) in 20 µg of rat brain lysate by colorimetric immunoblot analysis using Goat anti-mouse IgG:HRP as the secondary antibody.
- Detects approximately 100 kDa.
- Cross-reacts with all Gamma-protocadherin-A, -B, and -C proteins.
- This antibody was formerly sold as clone S159-5.
Target Information
The protocadherin gamma gene cluster is one of three related clusters tandemly linked on chromosome five. These clusters have an immunoglobulin-like organization, suggesting a novel mechanism for regulation and expression.
The gamma cluster includes 22 genes divided into 3 subfamilies:
- Subfamily A: 12 genes
- Subfamily B: 7 genes and 2 pseudogenes
- Subfamily C: 3 genes
Each variable region exon encodes the extracellular region with 6 cadherin ectodomains and a transmembrane region. The constant region exons encode the common cytoplasmic domain. These neural cadherin-like proteins likely play a critical role in establishing specific cell-cell connections in the brain. Alternative splicing has been described for the gamma cluster genes.
