Target Information
Androgen receptor (AR) coactivator ARA70, also designated NCOA4, RFG, and ELE1, is a putative co-activator that enhances androgen receptor activity. In human thyroid carcinomas, the Ret proto-oncogene fuses with ARA70 to form Ret/PTC3 by intrachromosomal inversion.
ARA70 exists in two isoforms, ARA70a and ARA70b. ARA70a is widely expressed, highest in testis and adipose tissues, while ARA70b is expressed only in testis. ARA70a functions as a ligand-enhanced co-activator of PPARγ in adipocytes and may be involved in prostate and ovarian carcinogenesis, mediating estrogen-androgen synergism.
