Target Information
Anaplastic Lymphoma Receptor Tyrosine Kinase (ALK) belongs to the insulin receptor superfamily and is vital for brain development. Mutations, rearrangements, and amplifications in the ALK gene are associated with tumors such as anaplastic large cell lymphoma, neuroblastoma, and non-small cell lung cancer. Chromosomal rearrangement often creates a fusion gene between ALK and nucleophosmin (NPM), resulting in the oncogenic NPM-ALK fusion protein. ALK is a novel receptor protein-tyrosine kinase with transmembrane and extracellular domains, showing high sequence similarity to LTK. It plays an important role in neuronal development and function.
