Target Information

NME4 is a protein kinase that transfers a phosphate group from a phosphate donor, typically the γ-phosphate of ATP, to an acceptor amino acid in a substrate protein. This mechanism mediates most signal transduction in eukaryotic cells, regulating metabolism, transcription, cell cycle progression, cytoskeletal rearrangement, cell movement, apoptosis, and differentiation.
The protein kinase family includes over 500 gene products and is classified into 8 major groups based on sequence comparisons of their tyrosine (PTK) or serine/threonine (STK) kinase catalytic domains.
The AGC kinase group consists of 63 kinases, including:

• Cyclic nucleotide-regulated protein kinase (PKA, PKG) family
• Diacylglycerol-activated/phospholipid-dependent protein kinase C (PKC) family
• Related to PKA and PKC (RAC/Akt) family
• Kinases that phosphorylate G protein-coupled receptors (ARK) family
• Kinases that phosphorylate ribosomal protein S6 (RSK) family
