Target Information
CD42b is a platelet activation marker involved in coagulation and platelet aggregation. It interacts with extracellular matrix and adhesion molecules, regulated by VEGF and PDGF. CD42b forms the GPIb-IX-V receptor complex with GPIb beta, GPIX, and GPV, essential for platelet-rich thrombus formation. It binds to von Willebrand factor (VWF) at vascular injury sites and interacts with thrombin, coagulation factors XI and XII, high molecular weight kininogen, TSP-1, integrin Mac-1, and P-selectin. CD42b is expressed on platelets and megakaryocytes. Mutations or polymorphisms in CD42b are associated with Bernard-Soulier syndromes and platelet-type von Willebrand disease.
