Target Information
IA-1, also known as INSM1, is a five zinc-finger transcription factor originally identified from an insulinoma cDNA library and expressed in the developing nervous system. In mice, IA-1 expression begins as early as E9.5 in the forebrain, midbrain, hindbrain, spinal cord, retina, and olfactory bulb. IA-1 functions as a transcriptional repressor and participates in several signaling pathways, including Notch, Sonic Hedgehog, and Ngn3 during pancreatic endocrine cell differentiation. It is also expressed in multiple tumors, including most neuroendocrine tumors and nearly all small cell lung carcinomas, suggesting its potential as a cancer therapy target.
