Target Information

IA-1, also known as INSM1, is an essential five zinc-finger transcription factor initially identified from an insulinoma cDNA library. It is expressed in the developing nervous system, including the forebrain, midbrain, hindbrain, spinal cord, retina, and olfactory bulb in mice as early as E9.5. IA-1 functions as a transcriptional repressor and participates in signaling pathways such as Notch, sonic hedgehog, and Ngn3 during pancreatic endocrine cell differentiation. It is also expressed in various tumors, including most neuroendocrine tumors and nearly all small cell lung carcinomas, indicating its potential as a therapeutic target in cancer research.
