• Store vial at -20°C prior to opening.
• Aliquot contents and freeze at -20°C or below for extended storage.
• Avoid cycles of freezing and thawing.
• Centrifuge product if not completely clear after standing at room temperature.
• Stable for several weeks at 4°C as an undiluted liquid.
• Dilute only prior to immediate use.

In ELISA and other immunoreactive assays, this antiserum recognizes both native and recombinant human GM-CSF in cell supernatants and certain body fluids.
Useful for neutralization of human GM-CSF in bioassays.
For neutralization, incubate the sample with a 1:400 dilution of the antiserum for at least 4 hours before testing.
A control of similarly diluted normal rabbit IgG is recommended.

Target Information

The GM-CSF gene encodes a cytokine that regulates the production, differentiation, and function of macrophages and granulocytes.
The active form exists as a homodimer in the extracellular space.
Located at chromosome region 5q31, associated with 5q- syndrome and acute myelogenous leukemia.
Clustered with related genes such as IL-4, IL-5, and IL-13.
This gene promotes tissue inflammation, and elevated cytokine levels have been observed in SARS-CoV-2 infected patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome.
Mice lacking this gene or its receptor develop pulmonary alveolar proteinosis.
