Target Information

CD235a (Glycophorin A, GPA) is a single-pass membrane sialoglycoprotein expressed on mature erythrocytes and erythroid precursor cells. It carries blood group M and N specificities and provides a mucin-like barrier that minimizes red blood cell aggregation. CD235a also acts as a receptor for Sandei virus, parvovirus, and the Streptococcus adhesin Hsa.
