Product Specific Information

The monoclonal antibody 1-155-2 recognizes the lambda light chain of human immunoglobulin. Approximately 22 kDa, the Ig lambda chain comprises one variable and one constant region. Two lambda chains together with the heavy chain form the complete immunoglobulin structure. Expression of Ig lambda is typically found in less than half of B lymphocytes and has been associated with neoplastic lymphomas.

Applications Reported: Suitable for flow cytometric analysis.
Applications Tested: Pre-titrated and tested by flow cytometric analysis of normal human peripheral blood cells. Recommended usage: 5 µL (0.25 µg) per test (100 µL final volume). Cell number range: 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test.

Target Information

Immunoglobulin classes share the same basic four polypeptide chain structure of two heavy chains and two light chains (kappa, lambda; ~22.5 kDa). Kappa and lambda chains consist of variable and constant regions, differentiated by antigenic properties of the constant region. The kappa-to-lambda ratio is approximately 70:30. Antibodies to the kappa light chain are useful in identifying leukemias, plasmacytomas, and non-Hodgkin’s lymphomas. Demonstration of clonality in lymphoid infiltrates indicates malignancy.
