Product Specific Information
Reconstitution:
Centrifuge the vial briefly before opening to bring contents to the bottom. Reconstitute the lyophilized protein in sterile, distilled water or appropriate buffered solution containing 0.1% BSA to regain full activity. Apportion the reconstituted protein into working aliquots and store at -20°C. Make further dilutions in buffered solution containing a carrier protein, such as PBS with 0.1% BSA.
Storage:
Store the lyophilized protein at 2–8°C, preferably desiccated. Upon reconstitution, apportion into working aliquots and store at -20°C. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
Target Information
Leukemia inhibitory factor (LIF) is a 20 kDa protein belonging to the IL-6 receptor family. It binds to a heterodimeric membrane receptor composed of a LIF-specific subunit (gp190 or LIFR) and the shared subunit gp130. LIF expression occurs in various tissues, including thymus, lung, and neuronal tissue. It can be up-regulated by pro-inflammatory cytokines such as TNFα and IL-17, and elevated levels are found in rheumatoid arthritis, neural injury, systemic inflammation, and tuberculosis. LIF is known for inhibiting embryonic stem cell differentiation in mice and promoting stem cell self-renewal. Human and mouse LIF share 79% sequence homology and exhibit cross-species activity, though stem cell differentiation inhibition is mouse-specific.
