Target Information
HIF-1 beta is one of the aryl hydrocarbon receptor nuclear translocator (ARNT) gene products. It plays a critical role in mammalian oxygen homeostasis and is part of the HIF-1 heterodimer composed of HIF-1 alpha and HIF-1 beta subunits.
Under normoxic conditions, HIF-1 alpha is hydroxylated and degraded, whereas HIF-1 beta remains stable.
Dysfunction of HIF-1 beta is associated with hypoxia and renal cell carcinoma.
Hypoxia contributes significantly to the pathophysiology of diseases such as myocardial and cerebral ischemia, cancer, pulmonary hypertension, congenital heart disease, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
