Product Specific Information
This antibody detects endogenous levels of total BAG5 protein.
Target Information
It has been hypothesized that the BAG-5 protein induces the death of nigral neurons through its predicted interaction with hsp70, leading to increased protein aggregation and cell death by disinhibition of hsp70’s anti-apoptotic function. BAG-5 is believed to play an important role in neuronal death mechanisms. It may also modulate the hsp70/hsp40 chaperone axis or interact with other BAG-containing proteins through BAG–BAG heterodimerization.
