The antibody detects endogenous levels of total ABCB8 protein.
Target Information
This nuclear gene encodes a multi-pass membrane protein targeted to the mitochondrial inner membrane. The encoded protein acts as an ATP-dependent transporter, possibly mediating the passage of organic and inorganic molecules out of mitochondria. Loss of function in mouse homologs disrupts iron homeostasis between mitochondria and cytosol. Alternative splicing generates multiple transcript variants.
