Preparation:
Produced from sera of rabbits immunized with highly pure Recombinant Murine RELM alpha. The anti-Murine RELM alpha-specific antibody was purified by affinity chromatography and then biotinylated.

Sandwich ELISA:
To detect Murine RELM alpha by sandwich ELISA (using 100 µL/well antibody solution), a concentration of 0.25–1.0 µg/mL is required. This biotinylated polyclonal antibody, in conjunction with PeproTech Polyclonal Anti-Murine RELM alpha (500-P214) as a capture antibody, allows detection of at least 0.2–0.4 ng/well of Recombinant Murine RELM alpha.

Western Blot:
To detect Murine RELM alpha by Western blot analysis, use at 0.1–0.2 µg/mL. When used with compatible secondary reagents, the detection limit for Recombinant Murine RELM alpha is 1.5–3.0 ng/lane, under either reducing or non-reducing conditions.

Target Information

RELM alpha (Resistin-like alpha, FIZZ1) is a small cytokine (88 amino acids, MW 9.4 kDa) primarily produced by macrophages. It is highly expressed in small peritoneal, alveolar, and adipose tissue macrophages and is strongly induced by IL-4 and IL-13. RELM alpha, along with Arginase 1 and Ym-1, is a hallmark of M2 macrophage polarization. Elevated RELM alpha levels may indicate parasitic infection. Humans lack the RELM alpha gene, but human Resistin shows similar properties in sequence, tissue distribution, and function. Other murine RELM family members include RELM beta, RELM gamma, and Resistin, each with distinct tissue distributions and functions. RELM alpha plays an important role in parasite infection, mucosal inflammation, and allergy.
