Product Specific Information

MA3019A647 detects protein disulfide-isomerase (PDI) from human, rat, porcine, and mouse tissues as well as hamster cells.
The MA3019A647 antigen is purified rat PDI.


Target Information

Protein disulfide isomerase (PDI) is a multifunctional protein that catalyzes the formation, breakage, and rearrangement of disulfide bonds.
At the cell surface, it acts as a reductase that cleaves disulfide bonds of proteins attached to the cell, potentially modifying exofacial proteins.
Inside the cell, PDI assists in forming or rearranging disulfide bonds of nascent proteins.
At high concentrations, it functions as a chaperone preventing aggregation of misfolded proteins; at low concentrations, it may promote aggregation.
PDI also participates in structural modification of the TG precursor during hormone biogenesis and serves as a structural subunit of enzymes such as prolyl 4-hydroxylase and microsomal triacylglycerol transfer protein (MTTP).
It acts as a receptor for LGALS9, retaining P4HB at the cell surface of Th2 T helper cells, increasing disulfide reductase activity, altering plasma membrane redox state, and enhancing cell migration.
